Partnership model:
Nepal SEEDS was founded in 1998 by trekking guide KP Kafle who cares deeply about his country and the everyday challenges
faced by his fellow villagers.
He has inspired a group of his friends to support a non-profit organization that provides funding for projects at the most basic grass-roots level.
Nepal SEEDS uses a partnership model approach to assist needy communities in Nepal.
Contrary to views that often characterize larger development organizations, the Nepal SEEDS Board of Directors recognizes that, as foreigners, we are not well equipped to know what is best for the communities that we serve.
The villagers meet regularly with KP, the Foundation’s Executive Director, to propose projects and commit to direct, local participation in the execution of those projects.
Through this dialogue, Nepal SEEDS financially supports solutions that are economically feasible, sustainable, and sensitive to local cultural concerns. Over the first decade of Nepal SEEDS activities, this strategy has proven successful.
Nepal SEEDS has been able to adapt to the changing and unpredictable circumstances that have over time plagued Nepal.
Our projects are truly collaborative.

Nepal SEEDS provides funding, material assistance, and professional advice. Our community partners provide the necessary land, labor, materials, and local expertise.
Nepal SEEDS also provides training at both the individual and community levels so that villagers are able to maintain the long-term viability of projects.
This collaborative approach creates a locally vested ownership; our local partners are committed to sustaining projects, and use their initiative to develop innovative solutions when problems arise. Much of our success is contingent on the personal relationships and rapport that we have cultivated with people in the project areas. KP and his team of project coordinators visit these communities regularly.
Nepal SEEDS directors visit projects frequently.
Clear and consistent communication between directors, staff and project recipients is a formula for success; mutual trust derives from a proven track record of accountability on all sides.
Frequent visits by Directors ensure energy, focus, and connectivity.
